Air-Care Electostatic Furnace Filter Major Features:
- .12wc pressure drop rating at 1200cfm
- 94% dust arrestance rating
- Galvanized steel metal frame
- Unpowered electrostatic filter
- Lifetime washable media
My experience:
I purchased this filter after I found that the BoAir electrostatic filter was a little too restrictive.
From the start it was intended to be in addition to the BoAir filter. I purchased a 24x24x1 version
and made a new cutout to hold it - so now I have two filters in parallel.
The Aircare filter has a galvanized steel frame and what looks like a galvanized steel grill over the actual filter media.
It is much heavier than the BoAir due to the steel frame instead of aluminum.
With the two parallel 24x24 filters my pressure drop is now .06wc at 1200cfm.
I have not tested the pressure drop of the AirCare filter by itself yet.
As far as filtering is concerned, I have not had the filters in place long enough to determine that, however dust
appearance on my glossy dining room table seems to be reduced - even better than using two filtrete 1700 filters.
BTW, two filtrete filters in this same setup produces .17wc pressure drop.
Air-Care Electostatic Filter Pros:
Air-Care Electostatic Air Filter Cons:
- Frame seems flimsy
- Too restrictive and noisy unless oversized - use at least 300 sq. in. per ton
Spot Rating:
I will update the rating once more time has passed to determine the actual filtering performance.
