BoAir Electostatic Furnace Filter Major Features:
- 90% dust arrestance
- .1wc pressure drop at 1200cfm
- Aluminum frame
- Unpowered electrostatic filter
- Lifetime washable media
My experience:
I purchased the BoAir electrostatic filter to replace my old Newtron filter that no longer fit my new A/C unit.
The Newtron filtered air very well but the air flow was low on the old system. Anyway, I got a 23.5x23.5x1 silver version to fit
my filter grill. At 1200 cfm the grill noise is quite substantial (so was the cheap fiberglass filter). I have a Dywer magnehelic gauge and measured
.16wc pressure drop - this is much higher than the claimed .1wc. I ended up buying an Air-Care Electrostatic air filter
and creating a new filter holder so I would have two parallel filters and reduce the pressure drop and noise. With the two filters
I now measure .06wc - very good.
As far as filtering is concerned, I have not had the filters in place long enough to determine that, however
the appearance of dust on my glossy dining room table seems to be reduced - even better than using two filtrete 1700 filters.
BTW, two filtrete filters in this same setup produces .17wc pressure drop.
BoAir Electostatic Air Cleaner Pros:
- Washable media
- Frame seems very sturdy
BoAir Electostatic Air Filter Cons:
- Too restrictive and noisy unless oversized - use at least 300 sq. in. per ton.
Spot Rating:
I will update the rating once more time has passed to determine the actual filtering performance.
