My experience:
The Fujifilm FinePix F100fd is a point and shoot digital camera. The F100fd functions almost the same as the F40fd. It has pretty much the same scene modes and settings except for a few additions like the dynamic range setting. It starts up quick and is ready to go. It focuses fast and accurate. Most cameras I have tried are reluctant to go over ISO 400 and some won't budge off ISO 100 without manual overrides. I think it's a little over willing at times, but you can limit it by switching to "manual mode" and setting the maximum ISO. I eventually decided on a maximum of ISO 800 for normal pictures. Pictures are well detailed, sharp and clear. I took some pics at from ISO 100 through ISO 1600 and looked at %100 views.
ISO 100 is good and sharp with very little noticable noise.
ISO 200 is good and sharp with just a little bit of noise.
ISO 400 is good and sharp with noise levels better than ISO 200 of the Canon SX110 and Panasonic TZ5.
ISO 800 is reasonably good and sharp with an increase in noise.
ISO 1600 noise has jumped considerably but is still usable. The F40fd/F45fd didn't jump as much. The noise levels above 1600 are pretty bad. If you must use it, you will need to perform postprocessing to get something reasonable. Depending on the scene, 1600 can be noisier than expected. It's probably going to need some post processing afterwards. I think the F40fd performs a little bit better due to it's faster 2.8 lens. My F100fd already has firmware 1.02 which is suppossed to reduce the "pink band issue". Does it eliminate it? Not completely. Out of some 400+ photos so far, I think 2 had it and you really have to look for it. Plus they were ISO 1600+ night shots. For me it has not been an issue or ruined any photos. Obviously, this camera is not a Digital SLR, but it's performance beats the competitors in it's class and price.

Fujifilm FinePix F100fd Digital Camera Cons:

Fujifilm FinePix F100fd Digital Camera Spot Rating:
This is a great little camera. If it had more manual control, it would be 5 spots. Even so, it's still the best in it's class. Picture quality outperforms both the Canon SX110 IS and Panasonic TZ5 in detail, sharpness and noise performance. If you need a simple P&S and don't need more zoom, the Fujifilm F100fd is hard to beat. Out of the Fujifilm Finepix F45fd, Fujifilm Finepix F100fd,Panasonic DMC-TZ5 and the Canon SX110 is, this is the camera I have decided to keep. Also, the F100fd has a $100 mail-in rebate good until 03/15/2009 which makes it even more attractive. Check the rebate terms to make sure you qualify.
