My experience:
I bought this multiband satellite transceiver from Ham Radio Outlet a few years back. The intent was to use it for all bands. I fired it up and it all worked fine. The audio quality is excellent. The built in DSP filters work pretty well. Outstanding for CW work. After a few days, I noticed that 70cm transmitting was strange. Upon more investigation, I discovered it was self oscillating. Being the tinkerer that I am, I opened it up. I noticed that the screws holding down the UHF amplifier board were not tight and the coating under the screws was not removed. I put star washers under the screws and tightened them up. No more problem. On HF when the bands were hot, I noticed some splatter from strong signals. As is common with most radios, turning off the noise blanker helps. Problem with that is if there is static, you can't hear anything over the noise. I used the transceiver to operate the satellites. It works pretty well. Although I felt more comfortable operating my old FT-736R. I think it was the close proximity of the buttons and knobs. Being compact is not all that it's cracked up to be. In addition, I used the FT-736R for a much longer time period. I think the FT-736R has a quieter receiver too. Another strange thing I noticed was that sometimes turning on the transceiver using the radio's power switch, the Astron 35amp power supply would shut off. If I turned the radio on first and then the 35 amp Astron supply it would turn on just fine. I have had no other issues.
