Topic: Restarting every day.

Hello,

Why do iI have to restart SipToSis every day?  I am no able to leave a server running for more than three days.  I have to restar SipToSis every day. Screen saver and the power software are dissable.

A question like this will get no useful response. Please read the Rules page from the link at the top of this page - The "I am not a mind reader" section. Also some info as to why you have to restart would help.

I believe is a valid question.

Let me rephrase it.

I have to restart SipToSis every morning. if I do not do it I will not be able to use the server.  If I do not restart SipToSis the incoming call will drop after is answered. There was another threat where you suggested to upgrade to the new version and may fix the problem.  Also, you suggested that verify that Linux will don’t go to sleep mode because can cause problems.

I did upgrade but I still have the same problem.  There is nothing in the log file.  SipToSis shown connect to Spyke.

Please advise, any suggestion?

You missed the point. I have no idea what versions of anything you have running. I don't have time to go digging through people's threads looking for previous info that may no longer be valid. You gave no information as to why you need to restart - memory exhausted, crash, hang or whatever.

You say call is dropped after answer - there must be a log entry about the attempt to make the call, right? Post it.

Here is what shows on the log file when the call was dropped.   SipToSis is running in OpensSuSe 11.2.

There are two errors...

That's a lot more helpful. I Still don't know Skype version though.

Run lsof > beforecrash after a fresh startup of siptosis.
When it dies again, run lsof > aftercrash
Compare beforecrash against aftercrash to see which process is using up all the file handles.

Also run:
ulimit -a and post results.

The complaint is "Too many open files" which you have limited to the default 1024.
I doubt it could manage to allocate 8000.

I'm a bit confused. Your SipToSis startup you posted shows: javaVer=1.6.0_17 - Sun Microsystems Inc. (32 bit)
Is your startup post from the same computer?

Your resource file dump shows:

as the running java with all 8200 lines with the same PID. It's clearly not Sun's java.

Mine has this:
java      3031     mhuser  txt       REG        8,1    47308 417861 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-xxx.xxx.0.14/jre/bin/java

OpenJDK is known to have various issues (at least with SipToSis) - do yourself a favor and get rid of it and only use Sun's.
Let me know if it fixes the problem. If the issue continues, do the same thing and email the two files again.

I removed openjdk, so far so good.  I have not restart  SipToSis in the last 4 days.

I think the problem was solved. I had not restated SipToSis since I removed openjdk.
